For this project I covered unions and monopolies in American history and why they are both significant. This topic interested me because I wanted to discover the importance of unions and gain a better understanding of them, while also incorporating the post office which I have gained more of an appreciation and interest for.
History
For the history portion of my project I decided to focus on the role of unions in the workplace and their importance in our society. I researched their role throughout American history and also looked at modern day examples. I took inspiration from this research and combined it with some of my personal experiences and interests to create my own union. My union is based off of the Pennsylvania Postal Worker's Union since I work in a post office and have first hand experience with how the mail carriers have been affected. Using my prior knowledge and research, I wrote three emails giving information about the postal service as well as explaining the struggles with the mail. My first email was to the general public talking about the struggle of the carriers during the holidays and pandemic. The second email is inviting a potential member to join the union, and listing reasons why it would be beneficial. The last email is to Scott Perry, explaining why he should be in favor of supporting the Post Office and giving any aid needed. The emails can be found below

Art
For the Art portion of my project I decided to create a virtual art gallery. I used the website Artsteps to create my very own gallery taking images from different time frames. Half of my gallery consisted of cartoons and photographs of the Industrial Revolution era, and elucidated the harsh and unfair conditions of society at the time. The other half is of modern day pictures and cartoons showing similar examples as to those of the previous eras. A link to the gallery can be found here.
